The Prefix Un

Prefix	Meaning
un	not

Pronunciation tips: Un is pronounced with the schwa sound, the sound u as in up. 
This prefix is usually not stressed.

Answer the Questions

1. What is one event that happened recently which was unanticipated? It could be an event in the news or something that happened to you. 

2. Do you have many unanswered questions about English? Describe a few unanswered questions that you have.

3. Are you unauthorized to perform certain tasks at work? If so, why?

4. What is one behavior that is unbusinesslike to you? Do you know anyone who does this? Do you ever do this by accident?

5. Is there a company in your career field that seems unchallenged right now? Or, do you know of an athlete who is currently unchallenged?

6. Is there anyone in your life right now, such as a child or coworker, who is uncooperative sometimes? Explain.

7. Describe someone you know (or someone you knew in the past) who is undependable. 

8. Describe something that is undependable, i.e. an application or an aspect of your career/business.

9. Who is someone with undoubtable fame in a particular area, such as a great cook, an author, a scientist, a movie producer, or a CEO? Why is this person’s fame undoubtable? 

10. What is one unenviable task at your workplace?

11. Who is someone who has lived an unenviable life?

12. Are you dealing with any unidentified issues at work right now? This means that you know there is something wrong, but you are not yet sure of the cause. 

13. Are you uninformed concerning one or more subjects in the daily news? For example, the stock market, business, technology, your country’s politics or international politics. 

14. Do you know anyone whose hair is usually unkempt? 

15. Do you know anyone whose home is usually unkempt? Describe it. 

16. What is something that could be unmanageable, such as a computer virus or a very difficult coworker? What would you do if you faced an unmanageable problem? 

17. Who is the most unselfconscious person that you know now? Why is this person unselfconscious?

18. Think about your past. At what age were you unselfconscious?
