Practice the L sound with these new words. Repeat after the video here. Remember that with the L sound, the tongue touches the ridge behind the upper teeth (not the teeth and not the upper palette). In words like “able” and “people,” make sure your lips are not coming forward as this will create an O sound. To keep the lips back, pretend you are about to smile because we naturally pull the lips back when we smile. Americans use a dark L sound when L is the final sound. This is optional, but if you do not use a dark L, you should use a softer L when it is the final sound.
