These words use prefixes a- to al-. More words using prefixes with an- to at- are in the next lesson. 
Pronunciation tips: In these prefixes, A is usually pronounced with the schwa sound, the sound of in up
These prefixes are usually not stressed.
Note: Say as in cat in access and accessible. In accessac– is stressed.

Practice by Answering the Questions

1. What kind of company do you work for? Does your company have a website that is easy to access? Why or why not?

2. Is your office accessible to handicapped employees or clients? If so, explain the features that make it accessible. If not, explain why it is not.

3. Describe two innovations that have caused technology to become accessible to many people.

4. When guests come to stay at your home, how do you accommodate them?

5. When visitors from out of town visit your workplace, how does your company accommodate them? Or, if you frequently travel for business, describe how you are accommodated.

6. Think of a time when you were a new employee. How did you adapt to the new workplace? What changes did you have to make to your own habits or ways of thinking?

7.  How have technology companies adapted to become successful? Describe this generally or discuss one company.

8. Do you frequently address new problems at work? Do you like to address problems quickly or think about them for some time?

9. How do you address the people that you work with? Explain how forms of address relate to your culture or your particular workplace. 

10. How often does your company adjust its budget? Why?

11. What is one thing that you often adjust (i.e. your clothing to fit the weather, ingredients to improve recipes, settings on your computer …)?

12. Is your company affiliated with any other company? If not, describe two companies that are affiliated with each other. How do you think each company benefits from the affiliation?

13. Think of a problem that can affect your company or business. What is one or more steps that are regularly taken to alleviate this type of problem?
